Words about Words

My life has been filled with many blessings and opportunities. I grew up in the lovely state of Colorado, married a wonderful man, and raised two amazing daughters. My husband's 29-year career as an Army family physician took us to Maryland, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia. We have recently settled into civilian life in the beautiful mountains of Roanoke, Virginia.

 

My professional life has been rich and fulfilling. I earned a Ph.D. in reading education at Auburn University in 1993, and since then I have tremendously enjoyed teaching all aspects of reading to children and adults of just about every age. I began exploring my creative self a little over a decade ago, writing fiction for children and young adults.  I have completed four novels and am actively seeking agent representation for them.

 

Other kinds of fun I enjoy are hiking, watercolor painting, gardening, photography, and raising orchids.
